Movie Night

Last night we went to the premier of The Kite Runner with Anna and Zane (thanks for the tickets guys!). I have yet to read the book, but Anna and Zane thought the movie stayed pretty true to the story. We really enjoyed the film. The soundtrack was beautiful, and the scenery was really amazing. We figured the film was not shot in Afghanistan, where the story takes place. It turns out they shot all the scenes of "Afghanistan" in Kashgar, China. I was reading a little more about the the young actors in the movie and the controversy surrounding the book and the making of the film. Read more here.

Read the book! It's excellent, and I think it gives tons of insight on how life was in Afghanistan was before all the craziness came about. As far as the 2nd half of the book fizzling... when you care about the characters it's nice to have it all resolved, but it is a bit less exciting. Can't wait to see the flick, I'm glad he thought it stayed true.
